GAMMEL DAG FEST – A SCANDINAVIAN CELEBRATION

Join us for this Scandinavian celebration. Begin the day with the parade along Main Street, then pick up directions to food and Scandinavian folk artists. Walk about and learn how to make lefse, hop on a hay ride, find the hidden gnomes around town, learn to play the hardanger fiddle, laugh at Ole and Lena jokes, play bingo, and sit to enjoy Scandinavian music. One must-stop is the Peterson Station Museum with a new addition in 2022. Purchase your collectible Gammel Dag button to support Peterson’s events.

You might plan to spend the weekend. Peterson has a lovely campground and lodging at the Andor Wenneson Hotel and Geneva’s Hideaway. You can rent canoes, tubes, and kayaks at the Driftless Trading Post and they will drop you off at the river, or stop in to see what is happening at Turned Write Handcrafted Art. The Peterson Legion will be open all day and evening – both indoor and outdoor seating available, and our beloved Burdey’s Cafe will provide delicious food and pies. The Driftless Trading Post also offers a seasonal menu for lunch and dinner featuring locally sourced foods.
