About the Organization– CEDA was created in 1986 as a private, 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation then called the Southeastern Minnesota Development Corporation. In 2010, the agency became Community & Economic Development Associates (CEDA) as a result of increased interest and inquiries received from communities outside of the agency’s original service area of Southeast Minnesota. Starting Salary Range—Depending on Qualifications
Location— Southwest Wisconsin
Hours— 8 a.m.- 5 p.m. Occasional early morning and/or evening meetings may be required.
Position Description— This position will be responsible for the execution of work necessary to serve CEDA’s Community Support Program contracts. Responsibilities are to provide technical and management expertise, project management, staff time, and materials in support of supporting a Chamber of Commerce including but not limited to:
- Collaborate with the Board of Directors to identify, create, and implement strategic plans to actualize annual budget and objectives.
- Develop and maintain partnerships and engagement with stakeholders and other relevant parties.
- Identify sources of revenue and organize fundraising efforts.
- Research and write grant applications.
- Actively promote membership development and retention
- Actively seek out sponsorship opportunities
- Management of all Financial aspects of the organization.
- Staff Management and Development: Identify, recruit, train, and develop a talented team of employees.
- Event Planning and on-site management.
- Participant and Attendee Engagement: Represent the organization at events and with media to strengthen the brand and communicate the organization’s message.
- Monitor organizational operations and ensure employees and business practices comply with regulatory and legal requirements.
- Develop the organizational culture and promote transparency and collaboration throughout the organization.
- Identify potential risks and opportunities within the organization to protect business interests.
- Attendance at Chamber Meetings specific to Job Duties (ex: Finance and Personnel).
The Community and Business Development Specialist will report to CEDA’s management team consisting of the company’s Vice Presidents and President/CEO.

The ideal candidates should be self-motivated, possess high business morals, have excellent oral/written communication skills, and be energetic, results-oriented, and able to develop productive relationships. Qualified applicants should have applicable experience or a degree in community/economic development, public administration, business administration, marketing, management, or another relevant field
Applicant must have a valid driver’s license and reliable means of transportation.
